U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance will travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan in February as part of a renewed diplomatic push, according to a statement by former President Donald Trump released on January 23.
In the announcement shared on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that “Vice President Vance will visit both countries to continue our peace efforts and promote Trump’s course for international peace and prosperity.”
The president also noted that the United States will strengthen bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan and uphold the existing peaceful atomic agreement with Armenia. Additionally, American semiconductor and defense manufacturers are set to receive new contracts as part of this initiative.
This diplomatic move follows a January 13 report indicating that Washington and Yerevan would establish a joint venture known as TRIPP Development Company to develop transport infrastructure in Armenia. The company will manage railways, highways, energy systems, and fiber-optic networks under a 49-year agreement with potential extensions, while the United States retains controlling interest and Armenia maintains sovereignty over the project sites.
