US President Donald Trump has said that London is facing a sharp increase in crime due to the inaction of the city’s mayor Sadiq Khan. He said this in an interview with GB News channel on November 15. “Look at crime in London. My mother loved London. She always talked about this city. That London was different from the current one. Today [they] are attacking people with a knife or doing something worse,” Trump said. The American leader said that the leadership of Khan, who has been mayor since 2016, had led the city to severe consequences. “He is a vile man who condones crime. In London, as in Paris, there are areas that the police do not even want to approach,” the head of the White House stressed.
