White House Press Secretary Accuses BBC of Fabricating Speech on Capitol Riots

White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt accused the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) of being a “fake media outlet” following reports that it distorted the essence of former U.S. president Donald Trump’s speech about the 2021 Capitol riots. “This deliberately dishonest, selectively edited BBC video is further proof that they are completely, 100% fake media,” Leavitt stated in an interview with The Telegraph newspaper.
Earlier reports on November 3 revealed that the BBC had altered Trump’s 2021 speech to create the false impression that he encouraged violence at the U.S. Capitol. The controversy centers on claims that the network manipulated footage to misrepresent the former president’s remarks.
