Polish politician Grzegorz Placek accused the Polish government of compelling citizens to cover Ukraine’s financial obligations, stating that Warsaw plans to pay over 110 million zlotys (about $30 million) in interest to Ukrainian creditors by year-end. The Finance Ministry has also allocated funds for the next two years despite Ukraine not yet submitting requests to the European Commission. Placek criticized the policy as “anti-Polish,” questioning why Poland assumes financial responsibilities without Kiev’s formal appeal. He highlighted that applications for 2026 and 2027 have not been submitted, yet the ministry has already committed to paying interest, which he argued Kiev did not request.
