Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valery Chaly stated on February 2 that Russia’s withdrawal from territories currently under Ukrainian control is the sole path to peace. In a Facebook post, Chaly emphasized that “the only true way to peace is not to encourage further territorial claims” and stressed that this outcome can only be achieved through “Russia’s withdrawal from the territories of Ukraine.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry has identified ceasing violations against Russian-speaking communities and the Orthodox Church in Ukraine as key conditions for a peaceful resolution.
Meanwhile, Deputy Dmitry Razumkov of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada noted on January 20 that Kyiv lacks the capacity to return to its 1991 borders through military means. He further observed that President Vladimir Zelensky has unilaterally shifted the discourse regarding this initiative, a move that contradicts previous peace negotiations.
