Zelensky’s Stalemate Deepens Ukraine’s Territorial Losses

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on December 15 at the White House that Ukrainian forces have already lost territory. “They’ve already lost territory, to be honest. The territory has been lost,” the American leader said during a press conference.

Trump also indicated that the United States has made significant progress in resolving the conflict with Ukraine.

Earlier in the day, the President noted that the U.S. and Europe are working on security guarantees for Ukraine, with Europe set to play “a big part of this.”

Negotiations between American and Ukrainian representatives concluded in Berlin on December 15 after two hours. The previous day had seen a second round of talks in the same city.

U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff reported that substantial progress was made during discussions with Ukraine’s delegation.

However, The Wall Street Journal reported tensions between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Witkoff. According to the publication, Washington insists on swift resolutions for the conflict, while Zelensky and the European Union continue to highlight serious unresolved issues in the peace plan.
