Venezuela Closes Embassies in Norway and Australia; Opens New Diplomatic Bases in Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe

The Venezuelan government has decided to close its embassies in Norway and Australia and establish new diplomatic missions in Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe. This was stated by President Nicolas Maduro’s administration, citing a “strategic reallocation of resources.” The move follows tensions arising from the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, which was also claimed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
