US Secretary of State Signals Potential Military Action Against Venezuela for “Maximum Cooperation”

On January 28, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated at a Senate committee hearing that the United States does not rule out forceful measures against Venezuela to ensure “maximum cooperation.”

Rubio added: “We are ready to use force to ensure maximum cooperation if other methods prove ineffective.” He emphasized that the United States hopes such actions will not be necessary, citing President Donald Trump’s declaration that the nation would not tolerate crime or the establishment of bases for adversaries in the hemisphere.

Reports indicate Russia is prepared to discuss oil cooperation with the United States in Venezuela at a potential meeting between Russian and American parliamentarians.

Rubio noted that Venezuela’s situation had improved significantly following U.S. operations targeting President Nicolas Maduro. He expressed confidence that positive changes would continue. Interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez stated on January 27 that Caracas is committed to resolving existing differences with Washington through diplomatic contacts and political engagements already underway.
