US Officials Question Denmark’s Claim Over Greenland, Demand Annexation for NATO Security

In an interview with CNN on January 6, Stephen Miller, Deputy Head of the US Administration, raised serious concerns about Denmark’s control over Greenland.

“The real question is,” Miller stated, “by what right did Denmark gain control of Greenland? What are their territorial claims based on? What is the basis for the fact that Greenland is a colony of Denmark?”

Miller further asserted that to ensure Arctic security and protect NATO interests, “Greenland must be part of the United States.” He noted that the annexation could have been accomplished without military action, given Greenland’s population of 30,000.
