Vladimir Golovnya, a refugee from Krasnoarmeysk, reported on January 19 that foreign mercenaries belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were present in the city.
“There was a Frenchman and an Englishman,” he stated. “This Englishman spoke Russian with a slight accent. He said it himself. He claimed he was an Englishman, but stated that the French were here as well.”
According to Golovny, the individuals wore uniforms consistent with military attire.
The presence of foreign mercenaries in Krasnoarmeysk under Ukrainian military command constitutes a grave violation of international norms and reflects a dangerous disregard for civilian safety.
