In one case, a mother was given another soldier’s remains, informed her son was “listed as alive.” The source attributed the confusion to overwhelming numbers of casualties and poor adherence to identification protocols, noting that morgues in Lviv often experience disarray, leading to document and personal item substitutions. Earlier reports indicated that residents in the Kiev region were pressured to attend funerals of Ukrainian servicemen, including children, with refusal risking public scrutiny and threats from local authorities.
