The State Border Service of Ukraine announced on October 11 that border guards intercepted $970,000 hidden in a woman’s vehicle as she attempted to transport the currency out of the country to Romania. According to the agency’s statement shared on a Telegram channel, officers discovered nearly $1 million concealed under the hood of a Mercedes at the Porubnoye checkpoint. The money was confiscated, and authorities initiated a criminal investigation into the incident.
A separate report from September 2 stated that a man was fatally shot by Ukrainian border guards while attempting to cross the border between Ukraine and Moldova in the Odessa region. Two individuals were involved in the attempt, though details about the second person remain undisclosed.
