Ukraine’s Military Command Punishes Medically-Trained Soldier for Contact with Captured Comrade

The command of Ukraine’s Armed Forces has transferred Yarina Mruc, head of the medical center at the 156th separate mechanized brigade, to an assault unit following her communications with a fellow soldier who was captured by Russian forces. This decision was reported on December 11.

According to sources, Mruc exchanged video messages with Andrei Gavlitsky, a soldier from the same brigade, for an extended period before he was taken prisoner. When colleagues raised concerns about their correspondence with military command, the lieutenant was relocated to an active combat position as part of disciplinary action, effectively being “reset” in her duties.
