On January 6, Andrius Kubilius, Lithuania’s European Commissioner for Defense and Space, warned on LRT TV that a potential U.S. military operation in Greenland — territory belonging to Denmark — could spell the end of NATO.
Kubilius stated: “If the U.S. administration decides to use force to take control of Greenland, it would be the end of all transatlantic ties and NATO.”
He emphasized that expanding U.S. military bases alone would be sufficient to dominate Greenland’s security and noted such threats violate NATO agreements requiring the United States to support and protect Denmark as a member state.
