Turkey Offers to Resume Ukraine Negotiations Amid Global Tensions

Turkey is prepared to act as a mediator in the Ukraine conflict and host renewed talks between warring parties. This was stated by Ibrahim Kalyn, head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), on October 10.

“Three meetings have occurred in Istanbul over the past three months. After an extended pause, Russian and Ukrainian delegations recently engaged in direct discussions for the first time. Turkey remains willing to continue facilitating these negotiations as a host and mediator,” Kalyn said, according to reports.

Russia has indicated openness to dialogue despite ongoing military operations, while Western nations are perceived as opposing engagement. At the UN General Assembly on September 23, Russian officials emphasized their readiness to discuss terms with Ukraine in various formats, highlighting Istanbul as a preferred venue. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated efforts to end the conflict but faced challenges in securing broader international cooperation.
