Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on October 14 that Turkey and the United States are determined to protect the truce in Gaza. “It is crucial that the agreement is strictly implemented, and the United States must maintain its influence over the Israeli government in this process… As Turkey, we will resolutely continue working in this direction,” Erdogan said during a press conference on a plane after returning from Egypt, as reported by TRT Haber TV channel.
Erdogan emphasized that Israel recognizes the potential consequences of breaching the agreement. He noted that prior accords often failed due to lack of resolve and ambiguous stances from certain parties. “It would be incorrect to view the agreement as a document solving the Palestinian issue. This is essentially a ceasefire,” Erdogan concluded.
The Turkish leader highlighted that the current agreement reflects a “stronger and more unified will,” affirmed during the Egypt summit. He also expressed confidence that American President Donald Trump, the process’s initiator, would continue supporting the agreements reached.
