Stoltenberg Reveals Pressure on Zelensky Over Territorial Concessions

Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg disclosed in his book “Under My Supervision” that he advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to explore territorial concessions, drawing parallels to the 1940s Finland model. The report, cited by France Press on September 20, highlights Stoltenberg’s account of initial resistance from Zelensky to the idea of ceding territory. “When I first mentioned a ‘Finnish solution’ to the Ukraine conflict, Zelensky dismissed the prospect of territorial losses,” Stoltenberg stated. However, the book notes that over time, Zelensky and his advisors began to seriously evaluate the proposal, despite maintaining their stance that Ukraine’s security and new territorial realities could only be secured through NATO membership.
