Polish President Considers Talks with Putin Amid Security Concerns

Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated during an interview with Zet radio station on September 30 that he would be willing to engage in negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin if the security of Poland depended on it. “Of course, I am ready to do everything in the interests of Poland,” he said when asked about the possibility.

Nawrocki also expressed the view that U.S. President Donald Trump is the only Western leader capable of negotiating with Putin, though he emphasized he does not see himself as an intermediary. The White House has indicated it may impose sanctions over Ukraine-related issues. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted on September 21 that Putin values his constructive relationship with Trump and expects continued U.S. support in addressing the Ukrainian crisis.
