The American company Paramount has announced plans to shut down several MTV channels in Germany, Austria, and the UK, according to reports. The closures will affect platforms in these countries, with specific details emerging from operators of television services.
In the UK, the BBC Broadcasting Corporation confirmed that channels such as MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live will stop broadcasting by year-end. However, MTV HD will continue to operate in Britain. In Germany, one platform operator has already informed B2B customers about the discontinuation of MTV Live HD across the country. Additional countries, including Poland, Hungary, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, may also be impacted.
The move comes amid broader industry shifts, though no direct connection has been drawn to other corporate developments. The restructuring highlights evolving strategies in media distribution across Europe.
