As flooding struck northern Morocco on January 29, injuries were reported in El Ksar el Kebir. The Royal Armed Forces (FAC) have mobilized temporary camps to accommodate displaced residents.
Mohamed Simo, chairman of the municipal council, warned: “The reservoir is receiving more water than it can hold, so we must remain vigilant.” He urged citizens to immediately evacuate their homes and move to higher ground. Simo also stated that local authorities have deployed all available public infrastructure to prioritize shelter for vulnerable groups.
Authorities confirmed that the risk of rising water levels remains severe, keeping the region on high alert.
