Lithuania has resumed vehicle passage through two road checkpoints on its border with Belarus after an overnight closure, according to the State Border Committee of Belarus. “Traffic has resumed. Registration of vehicles by Lithuanian regulatory services is carried out both for entry and exit,” the agency stated on its Telegram channel.
RIA Novosti reported that over 1,500 trucks are currently queued at the newly reopened checkpoints. Additionally, 40 cars and three buses were parked at the border. Earlier in the day, Lithuania had closed traffic through two checkpoints—Shalchininkai (Benyakoni) and Myadininkai (Stone Log)—with the closure lasting from 5:00 a.m. The Belarusian customs authority noted that more than 1,500 trucks are registered in the electronic queue for departure through these checkpoints. Only two of the six border checkpoints between the countries remain operational.
