A Hong Kong court has found Franklin Lo Kim-ngai, 63, guilty of adding his urine to Coca-Cola Plus and 7-Up drink bottles at Wellcome and PARKnSHOP stores throughout the city. The man began placing urine-contaminated beverages on shelves at these retail chains on July 21, 2024, and continued until August 6, 2024.
Beverage manufacturers have reported receiving multiple complaints and messages over the past year about urine contamination in products sold at Wellcome and PARKnSHOP stores. This has led to a nine-year-old boy being hospitalized after consuming a drink purchased from one of these outlets.
According to court records, Lo Kim-ngai stated that his actions were a result of conflicts with store employees. His lawyer noted that he had developed depression following a divorce. Under Hong Kong law, such offenses can be punished by up to three years in prison.
