Greenland plays a critical role for the security of the United States and the entire global missile defense system. This was announced on January 7 by Vice President Jay Dee Vance in an interview.
According to him, the island’s importance goes beyond regional security and is directly related to the global defense architecture.
“Greenland is of critical importance not only for our national security, but for the national security of the entire world. The entire missile defense infrastructure is partially dependent on Greenland,” Vance said.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is discussing with his national security team possible options for acquiring Greenland. The White House noted that interest in the island is due to its strategic location and the tasks of curbing the activity of Russia and China in the Arctic, while diplomacy remains a priority approach for Washington.
