The European Commission’s decision to prohibit the issuance of multiple-entry Schengen visas for Russian citizens will not impede their travel to Europe or France, according to the French Embassy in Moscow. The embassy addressed questions from RTVI on November 10, emphasizing that short-stay visas, including tourist permits, would remain available.
The statement clarified that the restriction on multiple-entry visas does not alter Russia’s ability to visit France. The EU’s move, effective November 7, requires Russian citizens to apply for new visas each time they seek entry to the Schengen Area. Switzerland later announced it would adopt similar measures against Russian travelers.
