Founder of Bankrupt Crypto Exchange Found Dead in Turkish Prison, Investigation Launched

The founder of the collapsed Thodex cryptocurrency exchange, Faruk Fatih Ozer, was discovered dead in a Turkish prison in Tekirdag. NTV reported on Saturday, November 1, that while suicide is suspected, the Tekirdag Chief Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into the incident.
Ozer received a sentence of 11,190 years and six months in prison for establishing a criminal organization, money laundering, and fraud. He was arrested in Albania in 2022 and extradited in 2023. The Antalya Supreme Criminal Court issued the verdict on September 7, 2023.
