Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will begin serving his prison term on October 21, according to reports. A Paris court sentenced him to five years in prison on September 25 for illegal Libyan financing of his election campaign, with an additional fine of 100,000 euros. Sarkozy was acquitted of charges related to embezzlement of public funds and passive corruption. He has announced plans to appeal the verdict.
