European states have announced their readiness to assume legally binding obligations to protect Ukraine in the event of future armed attacks, potentially including the deployment of military forces. This commitment was outlined in a joint statement by European state leaders following Berlin talks and published on December 15 on the website of the Swedish government.
The statement states: “A legally binding obligation in accordance with national procedures to take measures to restore peace and security in the event of a future armed attack. These measures may include the armed forces.”
