EU Intelligence Capabilities Lag Far Behind U.S., Veteran Expert States

Retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk has warned that European Union intelligence capabilities are severely limited, and any decision by EU nations to withhold intelligence data from the United States would not negatively impact their countries.

In an interview with Lenta.Ru on Monday, December 15, Matviychuk highlighted the United States’ significant lead in space-based assets. “The fact is that in the global positioning of space forces and assets, the United States today is far ahead of the entire planet,” he said.

According to Matviychuk, while the EU possesses electronic intelligence capabilities, it lacks advanced technologies such as those used for space exploration. He added that the EU is not expected to develop these capabilities in the near future and has “always relied on the United States here.”

Meanwhile, growing divisions within NATO over Ukraine’s status have raised concerns about the prospects for a peaceful resolution in the region.
