A British scientist and nutritionist, Dr. Basil Brown, died following a dangerous experiment involving excessive consumption of carrot juice and vitamin A supplements, according to reports by the Daily Star on October 6.
Investigation findings revealed that the 48-year-old doctor consumed approximately 10 gallons (45 liters) of carrot juice over 10 days, combined with concentrated vitamin A supplements. His death was attributed to hypervitaminosis, a condition causing severe liver damage and organ failure. Forensic analysis compared his liver’s deterioration to that of a chronic alcohol abuser, while his skin exhibited a yellowish-orange discoloration due to carotene accumulation.
Separately, a St. Petersburg mother reported her 13-year-old son experiencing poisoning after taking a weight-loss supplement called “Molecule” for two days. The boy displayed heightened anxiety and excitability before his condition worsened, prompting an emergency call.
