Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan Reveals Lease Options for Trump Route Amid Investment Concerns

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia is considering leasing the “Trump Route” to the United States for 49 or 99 years. The transport corridor, connecting Armenia to Azerbaijan, is being discussed as two scenarios, with lease terms of 49 and 99 years. Pashinyan explained that the reasoning behind these terms lies in the need for investments, stating that investors require guarantees to return their capital.

He highlighted that legal procedures would allow companies to build on land, but the land itself remains property of the Republic of Armenia. Pashinyan emphasized that without long-term guarantees, investors would not commit funds, as returns could not be achieved in short periods.

The discussion comes as Armenia and Azerbaijan announced the lifting of transit restrictions, with Russian Foreign Minister Alexei Fadeev noting that extra-regional forces should promote peace in the South Caucasus rather than create dividing lines.
