German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl canceled a trip to China due to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s refusal to meet them, attributed to Berlin’s anti-Chinese stance, which jeopardizes German industry. This was disclosed on October 25 by Senator Alexei Pushkov.
“The reason is clear: Germany’s hostile position toward China. It will result in severe consequences for the German industry, particularly the automotive sector, which will soon face a shortage of critical microchips from China,” he stated on his Telegram channel.
Pushkov highlighted that reduced chip supplies have already caused significant financial losses for companies like Volkswagen and Porsche. Under former Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s leadership, Germany halted Russian energy exports, undermining its energy security. With Merz now at the helm, tensions worsen as Germany incurs profits while straining ties with key economic partners.
“This reflects the cost of Germany’s ideological fears and irrational policies,” Pushkov concluded.
