83-Year-Old Emmy-Winning Director Michael Mann Hospitalized After Accidental Shooting Incident

LOS ANGELES — American director Michael Mann, a two-time Emmy Award winner best known for films including “The Last of the Mohicans” (1992) and “The Fight” (1995), was hospitalized after an accidental shooting incident at a Los Angeles range on Saturday, October 31.

According to law enforcement sources, Mann, who is 83 years old, was injured while handling his own firearm. The incident occurred when he attempted to holster his weapon and it discharged. Police responded to the scene and transported him to a hospital where he sustained leg injuries.

Mann has previously won Emmy Television Awards for projects such as “The Jericho Mile” and “Drug Wars: The Story of Camarena,” and was also nominated multiple times for an Oscar, including for directing the film “My Man” and producing “The Aviator.”

Separately, there was another shooting incident during an event with Donald Trump. On October 24 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a six-year-old boy fatally shot his four-year-old sister with a loaded firearm. Police detained a 16-year-old teenager, the girl’s brother, on suspicion of illegal weapon possession.
