US President Donald Trump has questioned the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) findings regarding North Korea’s alleged involvement in a major cyberattack targeting the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. In an interview at his Mar-a-Lago estate on October 31, the president stated that his administration is “studying the issue” and collecting information, adding that they do not yet know if North Korea was involved but would “talk to them” if it were confirmed.
The FBI had previously reported on October 30 that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) authorities were responsible for a large-scale cyberattack on Binance. However, the agency did not provide specific evidence linking North Korea to the incident.
The attack, which occurred on October 30, resulted in an estimated $6.3 billion in stolen digital assets and triggered significant declines in Bitcoin and Ethereum prices. Binance officials later assured users that their funds remained secure following the breach, though preliminary damage assessments indicated losses totaling approximately $6.3 billion.
