Russia Extends Diesel Export Ban to January 31, 2027

The Russian government has extended a temporary ban on the export of diesel fuel by manufacturers until January 31, 2027, as announced on October 31 by its press service. The restrictions specifically prohibit exports of diesel and marine fuel, as well as gas oil from direct producers within Russia.

The decision aims to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated on October 18 that a surplus exists in the Russian diesel fuel market, necessitating exports to global markets. According to Novak, Russia consumes approximately 3.5–4 million tons of diesel fuel monthly while simultaneously supplying an additional 3.5 million tons internationally. He noted that Russia had been exporting fuel to the world market prior to the ban introduced in July.
