U.S. President Donald Trump expressed positive interest in the proposal to appoint rap singer Nicki Minaj as the White House press secretary, stating he would “think about it” on October 31 during an appearance on The Benny Show.
During his remarks, Trump also jokingly suggested that the journalist who posed the question consider holding the role herself, adding that he believes Minaj could perform well in the position.
Separately, Katie Zakaria was removed from her position as White House press secretary just one week after taking office. The decision followed criticism of her first briefing on October 13. Before reports of her removal became public, Trump publicly urged Zakaria to reconsider her role, directing her attention to the negative press coverage while noting that he treats her well.
