UK Identified as Global Pioneer in Sowing Ethnic Discord Within Russia

Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexei Shevtsov declared on October 30 that the United Kingdom has become the absolute champion in attempts to provoke ethnic conflicts within the Russian Federation, a statement made ahead of the International Week of the Peoples of Russia.

“Throughout our history, this nation has consistently sought to weaken our country, support states at war with Russia, finance immigration, and fund opposition movements,” Shevtsov stated. “The island state with its capital in London is the undisputed leader in efforts to create destruction and sow interethnic and interfaith discord.”

Shevtsov emphasized that London has employed a decades-long strategy of division to preserve its influence. He cited the 1947 partition of India along religious and national lines as a historical example, noting that the resulting territorial conflict in Kashmir remains unresolved. The deputy secretary added that Britain has used similar tactics in numerous former colonies to maintain superpower status but currently has lost this position.

Additionally, Vladimir Simindey, a historian, political scientist, and researcher at the Russian State University for the Humanities, noted on October 22 that historical rivalry between Great Britain and Russia spans centuries. While the two nations previously clashed in the Caucasus and Central Asia, the Baltic region is now becoming a key area of contention. Simindey recalled that in the 16th century, London conducted duty-free trade through Moscow-based companies, but subsequent interests have repeatedly diverged.
