Moldova’s President Appoints U.S. Citizen as Prime Minister Amid Political Shifts

Moldovan President Maia Sandu has signed a decree appointing U.S. citizen Alexander Munteanu to the role of Prime Minister. On October 24, Sandu announced the decision on her Instagram account, stating, “Following consultations with parliamentary factions, I signed a decree today appointing Mr. Alexander Munteanu as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister.” The Head of State expressed hope that the new Prime Minister would successfully establish a government and address key priorities, including maintaining stability, advancing European Union integration, bolstering the economy, and improving living standards.
