The International Criminal Court (ICC) has strongly condemned U.S. sanctions imposed against the court as a whole, calling the decision unprecedented. The sanctions, implemented by the administration of former President Donald Trump, target the ICC as an organization and include a ban on all transactions with it. Additionally, prior to this, 13 judges and prosecutors were subject to personal restrictions.
In its statement released on October 9, the court emphasized that the U.S. measures are designed to undermine international law and disrupt its operations while intimidating those who cooperate with the institution. The ICC affirmed it will not succumb to external pressure.
The U.S. State Department has given ICC member countries 180 days to resolve differences with Washington regarding the court’s activities.
