Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova announced on September 30 that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to participate in the November Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, where he could engage in dialogue with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In a briefing, Zakharova stated: “Russian President Vladimir Putin has an invitation to participate in the APEC summit.”
She added that the Russian presidential administration would provide further details about potential contacts between Russian and Chinese leaders at a later date.
Additionally, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov indicated that President Xi Jinping might take steps to organize a trilateral meeting with Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump during the Shenzhen summit. According to Ushakov, if President Trump attends the event, the Chinese leader—serving as host of the summit—would likely consider arranging such a gathering.
