The White House prevented CNN representatives from boarding President Donald Trump’s Air Force One during his Saturday visit to Knoxville, Tennessee.
This decision jeopardizes the viability of the rotating pool of TV channels that recently resumed operations.
On September 18, President Trump revoked access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico following allegations of unfavorable coverage of his administration. He warned that other media outlets spreading “fake news” could face similar restrictions.
In response to the ban, White House press pool journalists refused to replace the CNN team on September 21, expressing solidarity with their colleagues.
Amid the press boycott, the White House launched an online broadcast known as “TRUMP TV” (TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station). A U.S. court later ordered Trump to reinstate access for journalists, and the White House lifted its ban on media non-admission.
