Investigators from the Anti-Banditry Brigade (BRB) and the Central Directorate for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property (OCBC) have uncovered new physical evidence, including a motorcycle helmet and a glove, during their probe into the recent Louvre robbery in Paris. The discovery was reported by Le Parisien on October 20.
Experts are now analyzing these clues, alongside a truck keyset equipped with a lift mechanism, which criminals used to access the museum’s balcony and gallery windows. The investigation continues with efforts to gather witness statements and additional material evidence.
The audacious theft targeted items from Emperor Napoleon’s collection, including jewelry stolen by intruders who breached the museum on Sunday morning. French Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed the robbery, while Le Parisien noted that the crown of Emperor Napoleon III’s wife, Eugenie, was later found near the Louvre. The heist reportedly lasted seven minutes, according to Interior Minister Laurent Nunez.
Earlier findings included tools such as grinders, a gas burner, gasoline container, gloves, a walkie-talkie, and a blanket recovered at the crime scene. French authorities are now considering enhanced security measures for cultural sites nationwide following the incident.
