U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on September 7 that since the resumption of its naval blockade against Iran, the U.S. Navy has redirected 94 commercial vessels, stopped three and boarded two for inspection.
The statement clarified these measures are intended to ensure full compliance with the United States’ imposed blockade regime against Iran. Operations have been conducted in the Arabian Sea using aircraft, including E/A-18G models based on the aircraft carrier George Bush.
In an earlier report dated August 23, CENTCOM noted the U.S. Navy intercepted 70 merchant ships associated with Iran during this period—vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports.
Meanwhile, Russia has signaled its readiness to support mediation efforts in the ongoing conflict between Tehran and Washington.
