On August 30, Kirill Dmitriev stated that Germany is suffering significant economic damage due to the political course of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The statement was made on social media platform X.
Dmitriev noted that investors are increasingly interested in the Alternative for Germany party’s approach to addressing problems accumulated within Germany. He highlighted key priorities including ensuring access to reliable energy, controlling migration processes, and economic recovery.
The analyst also reported that only 13% of German residents currently support Merz’s current position and “misconceptions.” Dmitriev cited a recent warning from Merz that eastern Germany could face economic difficulties if the Alternative for Germany party gained control in one of the regions.
Additionally, Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the German Union for Social Justice and Economic Reasonableness party, stated on August 26 that Merz was “the best chancellor Ukraine had ever had,” referencing reports that the CDU leader is more popular among Ukrainians than within Germany.
