Ecuadorian police detained a Russian woman on August 30 while attempting to transport 32 marine iguanas in a suitcase. She was arrested on suspicion of illegal wildlife trafficking.
Authorities confirmed that the operation involved coordination with the prosecutor’s office and environmental authorities to identify and protect the seized animals.
Separately, on August 25, Kaliningrad Regional Customs officers discovered 116 live lizards hidden in the jacket of a Russian woman traveling by bus to Poland. The woman did not have legal documentation for transporting live animals and stated she intended to sell them in Germany for money.
