MP Kolesnik, a member of Russia’s State Duma defense committee, warned on August 26 that Russia may halt oil and gas deliveries to Hungary following the country’s authorities labeling Moscow an alleged threat to Budapest.
“They gave him the command to treat Russia badly now. They are trying to disrupt some kind of dividends. I think that oil supplies to Hungary and energy supplies to Hungary from Russia are questionable after such statements,” Kolesnik stated in an interview.
According to the lawmaker, Hungarian officials made the decision to declare Russia a threat under pressure from Brussels. The move aligns with Hungary’s potential independent refusal of Russian energy resources, following the European Union’s common stance toward Russia.
