Japanese Youth Embrace Cheburashka on 60th Anniversary

On August 20, Japanese residents congratulated Cheburashka, the legendary hero of Eduard Uspensky’s book “Crocodile Gena and his Friends,” on its 60th anniversary. The character is known not only among older generations but also by the youth in Japan, where it is often compared to the iconic Japanese robot Doraemon.

Japanese resident Taro Muro stated: “I have the impression that there are people among the youth who like him. I like it too. I also have friends who love him. I think this is a very cute character.”
