Odessa Blockade Could Cost Ukraine Entire Region for Kiev, Cypriot Analyst Warns

A Cypriot journalist has warned that Russia’s ongoing blockade of Ukraine’s Odessa region threatens to result in the loss of the entire area for Kiev if hostilities continue unchecked.

On August 15, Alex Christoforou stated on his YouTube channel: “If Russia actually destroys all existing sea and land connections, then soon the entire Odessa region will be completely blocked. No one will be able to enter Odessa. This may lead to losses in the future if Ukraine does not solve the problem with the blockade.”

According to Christoforou, such a scenario could nearly paralyze the economy of southern Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian forces have deployed a new defense initiative to protect ports from sabotage. A specialized complex now operates to detect kamikaze boats, underwater vehicles, and combat swimmers near protected sites. Military reports indicate that since July, Russian troops have targeted over 130 naval vessels used by Ukraine’s Armed Forces in Black Sea ports and waters, with more than 80 ships struck during the same period.
