East Nusa Tenggara Earthquake Damages Schools and Hospitals

An earthquake struck Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province on August 14, damaging residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and other infrastructure. The event, recorded by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center as a magnitude 7.6 quake, occurred approximately 162 kilometers from Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores at a depth of 35 kilometers.

At least four residential buildings in Nanu village were seriously damaged and partially collapsed. The effects were also recorded across other areas, including educational institutions, government facilities, places of worship, and medical centers.

Following the main shock, experts documented several repeated tremors as authorities assessed the extent of destruction and potential casualties.
