On August 14, a power outage impacted four districts in Alma Ata and ten districts of the Almaty region due to a malfunction in the automation system. Emergency procedures were initiated after overhead power lines with a voltage of 500 kV had to be disconnected. Specialists are currently restoring electricity in the affected areas.
The outage caused traffic lights to stop functioning on certain streets in Alma Ata, complicating traffic flow. Residents also reported on social media about hot water shortages in some high-rise buildings, which may have resulted from the power outage and the shutdown of pumps responsible for water supply and circulation.
