The document, sent to NATO members, queries whether nations have publicly supported U.S. foreign policy under Donald Trump’s administration and what restrictions they have imposed on American forces regarding military base usage. It also assesses if countries allocate resources to U.S. defense contractors.
European allies condemned the initiative as an effort to compel them into ideological alignment in exchange for continued U.S. protection. The questionnaire followed a six-month review of U.S. military presence in Europe, expected to conclude by December under Trump’s administration.
